We want to simplify our software and submission process as much as possible for our users. To accommodate some of our customers’ more specific needs, we have newly implemented another feature into our submission portal. From today on, you will be able to use closed submissions, a new submission category for organizational users. Moreover, we created 2 new accounts.
How do closed submissions differ from the current submission process?
Usually, when you create a submission, any student can submit their work. With the new submission category, users have an account within their organization to submit their work. The administrator of the organization provides these accounts.
If you want to create a closed submission, please follow the steps below:
- Log in on www.plagscan.com
- Go to Document > Submission
- Click on Create new Submission
- Check the box: Closed Submission under the section Submission Type (see below)
New: Guest and Student Accounts
PlagScan designed two new account types: Guest and student accounts. Users with those accounts have restricted rights over the document manager and settings. Administrators can either create both accounts along with a new group or change an existing group or single user to limit the use of PlagScan.
1. Groups
Some teachers might need to restrict rights to a certain number of students organized into groups on the administrator account. The system presets the settings of the guest account. If you want to change the default settings, you can do so by following these steps:
- Log in on www.plagscan.com
- Go to User Administration > Groups >
- Scroll to the section Policies.
- Finally, enable a guest account by clicking on Yes.
While creating a new group, administrators can choose to enable guest accounts along with the configuration of other settings. Each new user from this group will have those restrictive rights.
We also created a new preset group, the student group. When you add a new group, you can click on copy settings from. On this menu, administrators can copy the settings from the organization or create a student group. After selecting a student group, several options will be displayed. At the bottom of the form, you will see that the student group is also a guest account. Yet, the student account has another type of settings in comparison to the guest accounts: Administrators can alter the preset settings of the student account.

2. All Users of the Organization
As the administrator, you can restrict rights and modify your users’ accounts into guest accounts.
- Go to User Administration > Users
- Click on Configuration Settings
- Scroll down the form until the section Policies.
- Finally, enable a guest account by clicking on Yes.
